An ethmoid mucocele causing diplopia
RATIONALE Mucocele is a disease lined primarily by epithelium, and occurs mainly when the sinus ostium is obstructed. PATIENT CONCERNS We report a case of a 37-year-old man who presented with painless proptosis of the right eye and diplopia. DIAGNOSES The preoperative finding was mucocele of the ethmoid sinus. متن کاملSudden Hemianopsia Secondary to Ethmoid Sinus Mucocele
Paranasal sinus mucoceles are benign cystic lesions, filled with mucus, occurring due to an obstruction of involved sinus ostium. They are indolent, locally expansive, and destructive. Surgical treatment must be performed and, when done at the correct time, may prevent sequelae. We present a case of ethmoid sinus mucocele with orbit involvement and permanent optical nerve injury.
متن کاملOrbital apex syndrome caused by ethmoid sinus mucocele: a case report and review of literature
Ethmoid sinus mucoceles are benign, expansile and cyst-like lesions, when sufficiently large, may causing compression of the optic nerve and nearby structures. We report an extremely rare case of ethmoid sinus mucocele causing orbital apex syndrome. A 59-year-old female presented with over one month history of left-side headache that worsened with left-side ophthalmodynia for six days, accompan...
متن کاملEthmoid mucocele in an infant with a benign fibroosseous lesion.
We present a case of ethmoid mucocele occurring in a two-month-old child, and associated (presumably causally) with a benign fibroosseous lesion of the ethmoid bone. These two conditions may be more frequently associated than previously recognized; MR greatly facilitates their evaluation.
